Croatia, Croatia, CROATIA!!! Why is everyone talking about traveling to Croatia?

Why is everyone talking about traveling to Croatia? Off the top of my head I can think of ten obvious reasons:

  • Crystal blue sea and secluded coves
  • Culinary delights
  • Stunning national parks
  • Beautiful folkloric music & costumes
  • Adventure sports
  • 1200 islands
  • UNESCO World Heritage sites
  • Award winning wine varietals
  • Picturesque stone villages
  • Stunning national parks

And there are hundreds more reasons to visit Croatia.  Croatia suddenly seems to be a “hot” destination for North American travelers, but it certainly is not undiscovered.  Throughout millennia, many civilizations took “tours” to Croatia.  Notably, Illyrians, Ancient Greeks, Romans, Tatars, Byzantines, Venetians, Ottomans, and Habsburgs traveled to and through Croatia, imprinting a fascinating history along the way.

With so much to see and do, how will you ever figure out which of the 1200 islands, many national parks, or hidden villages to visit?  How can you find the behind the scenes culinary treasures – cook with a chef, meet with a winemaker, shuck oysters?
